Sail with Apsara

Ready for new Adventures?

In the summer, Apsara is based on Clare Island, on the West coast of Ireland and she is available for day charter for groups of up to four persons,  a great way to explore Clew Bay, learn sailing, or both.  When she’s not sailing, it is possible to stay on board Apsara at her home port on  Clare Island.

It is also sometimes possible for one or two crew to join  Apsara on her  sailing adventures, especially in the winter, when she ventures further out to sea.

Open Pricing

When you request to book, you indicate how much you are willing to pay.
This open  pricing system is an attempt at building  economic relationships which contribute towards the culture of sharing that we so badly need to face  the converging crisis of the 21st century.
Of course I need financial contributions to be able to continue chartering Apsara, but I also appreciate that your circumstances might be such that you cannot afford commercial rates. On the other hand, if your financial circumstances are comfortable, you may choose to contribute generously to encourage me to continue! If you are not sure how much to offer, ask yourself “what is fair?”, and “how much can I afford to pay?”

Crewing opportunities

I often sail single-handed and Apsara is equipped for this, but I also enjoy good company and good conversation and so often have room for one or two crew to join me on my saling adventure.
Food on board is vegetarian and as much as possible organic or local, in line with my aspiration to do as little damage as possible to the planet. I’m happy to accommodate vegans as long as they can tolerate my cheese eating habits.
I do not smoke and very rarely drink, so smokers or anyone who likes their booze should find another boat.
I ask for a daily contribution, which is left to your appreciation. It should at least cover foo and marina costs.
I’m a former yachmaster instructor, and I am always happy to share my knowledge of boats and the sea, so if you’re wanting to learn sailing, Apsara could be the right boat for you.
