Sailing with Apsara

On the West coast of Ireland... and beyond

Apsara is a 36 ft aluminium offshore sailing cruiser based in Clew Bay, on the West coast of Ireland.

Wild atlantic sailing

For the adventurous sailor, the West coast of Ireland has much to offer. Perfectly sheltered anchorages, long desert sandy beaches, breathtaking scenery, challenging pilotage,  friendly locals…The richness and variety of wild life is also amazing. Cruising in these waters, you are far more likely to meet seals and dolphins than other yachts!

It is however a demanding cruising area. Once you’re out of Clew Bay, you’re in the Wild Atlantic!

Sailingin Clew Bay
Apsara

Apsara is a 36 feet aluminium centreboard sloop. She's a strong, well-equipped and well maintained boat on which you can cruise these challenging waters safely.
She’s ideal for this sailing area where there are very few marinas, and where most nights are spent at anchor or dried out on a beach or along an old stone quay.

Clew Bay

Clew Bay, in Co Mayo, is a wonderful cruising area. The inner bay is well sheltered, with many wonderful anchorages and plenty of islands to explore. Westport harbour, at the bottom of the bay, offers excellent shelter in all weather and is a popular holiday destination, with excellent restaurants and pubs, and plenty to do and see.
Clare Island, at the entrance of the bay is another favourite port of call for yachts cruising this coast.
Achil Sound, on the north shore of the bay, offers excellent shelter amidst splendid scenery.
A little further out, Killary harbour (Ireland's only fjord), and the islands of Inishturk and Inishbofin are less than a day sail away, but a world apart.
