Yachtmaster offshore training and exam

A three weeks live aboard training course for those wishing to gain an internationally recognised sailing qualification. The course ends with the Irish Sailing Association Yachtmaster Offshore examination.
Holders of the Irish Sailing Association Yachtmaster offshore certificate who also hold the necessary radio licence and STCW 95 qualifications and a current ENG11 (medical cert.) can apply for a Irish Department of Transport professional skipper licence (Yachmaster offshore comercially endorsed) which entitles them to work as skipper on any boat up to 24 metres and carrying no more than 12 passengers. For those who don’t hold the necessary VHF and STCW qualifications, we can assist you in obtaining these during the month.
To apply for this course, you must have sailed for a minimum of three weeks and 1500 miles, including at least two overnight passages of more than 120 miles as an active crew member.

I like to say that I am a wise (wild?) old salty dog. Well, wisdom may be little more than an aspiration anyway,.
I’m a man of many interests, and have lived a varied and at time quite adventurous life. I’ve worked in many areas and in a few different countries.
I’m a former yacht master instructor and a professional skipper with many offshore passages to my name, including several transatlantic crossings (one of them single-handed) and an expedition to Antarctica as a first mate on a 30 m ketch.
I’m always happy to share my knowledge of boats and the sea with anyone who’s keen to learn about them !
